After making my misc. stuff GSM, I decided I wanted to finally make a vineyard-designate blend. The Rossi Ranch GSM showcases the amazing terroir of this heritage vineyard and allowed me to work with each of these varietals separately and then together to create the perfect blend for aging.
Black cherry in color with aromatics of wild raspberry, strawberries, cola/Dr. Pepper, and black licorice with savory notes and smoked game notes. Loaded with black and red raspberries, plus sweet strawberries, and red and black licorice. A pure pinpoint intense savory aspect that flows through out the wine, with just a touch of white and green peppercorn notes. The palate is very giving, from the lush front palate to the luxurious mid-palate to an everlasting finish. My passion for wines of the southern Rhône continually drives me to find the best vineyards from which to create an epic GSM, one not of sheer power but of intensity and elegance.
The blend: 100% organic - 60% Grenache, 20% Syrah, 20% Mourvèdre; 289 cases produced. In the Cohn Zone: drink now - 2028.

My passion runs deep for wines of the Southern Rhone, especially Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Vacqueyras, and Gigondas. So, my continual journey and experimentation of Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre is not only fascinating, but gives me chance to understand how to not only find the right vineyards, but picking profiles, fermentation techniques, and aging vessels to use. Then to compare my wine with those of my favorite producers in the Southern Rhône.
I started Jeff Cohn Cellars with the help of my mother, Iris. One adorns the label as a tribute to her.

The fruit is hand-picked then cold-soaked. I gently foot-stomp the fruit of which 60% is whole cluster, the rest is whole berry and de-stemmed. None is crushed. The wine goes through open-top, then 100% Malolactic fermentation and aged 18 months in a 600-gallon concrete Foudre.

92 Jeb Dunnuck — Solid black cherry and mulled blackberry fruits as well as pepper, orange peel, and leafy herb notes emerge from the 2018 GSM Rossi Ranch Vineyard, a medium-bodied, nicely textured, seamless blend of Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre. It shows a solid kick of tannins on the finish but is far from unapproachable, with beautiful balance and length. It should drink well for at least 7-8 years.
92 Wine Advocate, Erin Brooks — The 2018 GSM Rossi Ranch Vineyard is a blend of 60% Grenache, 20% Syrah and 20% Mourvèdre made using 60% whole cluster. It has a medium ruby color and gregarious red berry fruits, with notes of blood orange, cracked pepper and charred meats. Medium-bodied, it’s grainy and fresh with understated, pepper-laced fruits and an uplifted, juicy finish. 288 cases were made. Drink now - 2025.
