Planted directly into volcanic rock in an amphitheater setting with a patch of lavender in the middle, this steep hillside vineyard is starting to show aspects of the vineyards age by providing a wine that shows a touch more elegance and finesse, although this wine is still over the top. A vivid black, red color, with aromas that showcase black cherry, mineral, dark chocolate and savory touch and black cassis and wisp of lavender and dark chocolate. On the palate this medium full bodied wine shows a suppleness that is real turn on. Layered with black cherry, Mission fig, Australian black licorice and fennel that finishes with a touch of creamy dark chocolate. It’s not often that one has the opportunity to work with a vineyard that shows such a singular sense of place.
